Seeking the truth about God, the bible, and faith.

Quest ep 04 Sin, Man, and God, Part 2.

After a rough start, Keith and Nathan share what’s been happening with the hosts. Keith tells about a frozen van breakdown, and missed doctor appointments. Also recomendations for James Kennison, and all the creative work he does online. Creating artwork, web comics, and his podcast network that can be found at: NLCast.com. Also there’s plugs for Keith’s other podcasts that can be found on his own network at Podcast.Heltsley.net.

Things that were hinted at in the previous installment are explained in more detail. Namely, Keith shares about his disability, and what he does to keep busy as a blind person.
Plus a plug for the Retro-OTR.com, Keith’s other podcasting work. The avalanche of plugs continue with A quick nod to Daniel J Lewis, and his
Clean Comedy Podcast.

Keith also fills in some details surrounding his new church house. God has been in the move from the start, andnew mission opportunities have fallen into the lives of Keith and his wife. Listen to how he was able to move in, and some of the history of the building. Churches don’t have bathing, or laundry facility, how do you do that?

Topic: Grace, Man, God, Jesus, and Salvation, Part 2.

Nathan picks up where we left off, and we transition into talking about God, by reviewing the matter of sin. God is love, longsuffering, willing that all should come to him, and not be punished.
God is just, and fair, but where is the line drawn to know how good is good enough to be in his kingdom? What sacrifice cqan satisfy the requirements of God? Anything at all? No, only a sacrifice of blood. A sacrifice that animal sacrifice can only cover, and one that only Jesus alone is qualified to redeem fully.

What’s involved in actually becoming a Christian? Faith. What exactly does that level of belief mean, and is that all there is to it? It’s surprisingly simple, but it needs to have a few things going on. The Holy Spirit needs to be the one who opens your eyes and ears to understand, chances are he’s already doing that to draw you closer to him. Next, once you see the sin in your life for what it is, turn away from it, and make Jesus lord of your life. What does that mean? To put Jesus as the ultimate authority in your life in making good, ethical decisions. Have you recently accepted Jesus as your lord and savior, and looking for a “Happily ever after” life? It doesn’t work so easily. Life goes on, and is a continuing process in growing a relationship with God.

Quest ep 03 Sin, Man, and God, Part 1.

After the solo episode Keith made, Nathan is back to record again.

Meet the Hosts.

Find out some of the bible studies and reading the hosts have started in the new year. Comparing super heros to Jesus, and a thematic bible reading plan that tries to match similar chapters together. Reading stays in whole books, and whole chapters, so the themes are on a broad scale. Keith has used it to start yet another podcast on the network. Check out his online Bible Journal. Podcast recommendations of things we’ve been listening to lately are shared, and even some comparing notes on our hair dos. Podcast run the range of audio cartoons, to theology, and beer… huh? Hey we don’t endorse everything, and offer disclaimers where disclaimers are due.

Topic: Sin, Man, and God, Part 1.

We look at a method to share the plan of salvation. It uses the points of Grace, Man, God, Christ, and Faith. Because we run a little long, we’ll bring the final points in part 2.

In the relationship between God and man, sin keeps us from being close to him. Sin is the nature of man, but grace is extended to draw us back into that relationship. What can we do to be good enough, or earn it? God’s kingdom far exceeds what we can imagine, and all we have to bring to the table is… pocket lint. If we could pay for our own entry to heaven, it wouldn’t be salvation. Only one price will cover our inclusion there. A price of blood is required, and Jesus took care of it. That grace is available to all who seek after it.

Why is the price so high to enter heaven, and why can’t we get there by our own works? In short, ask God. It’s his rules. Sin is built in to all of us, and even the smallest infraction breaks our perfection, as sure as a tiny pin point bursts and ruins a balloon. Getting into God’s heavenly kingdom just isn’t possible under our own good works.

Get the rest of the points to find salvation… coming soon!

Quest 02 Jesus Our Lord

A delayed release that Keith explains as he opens with the, Meet the Host segment. He talks about some of the concept and background of the podcast, technical difficulties, rough ideas and all. Recovery from the holidays is in full swing, and recording plans are taking shape for this and other podcasts that Keith does. Namely the Alive and Still Married podcast he does with his wife.

Continuing to look at the statements in the Apostles Creed, Keith pauses to consider why the scriptures can be held as true. Need more convincing? Refer to Lee Strobal’s book, Case for Christ. Particularly part 1 in the book, for historical evidence, and more support for why scripture is trustworthy for study, and spiritual matters. Another good bible teacher Keith recommends is RC Sproul, qand his Renewing Your Mind podcast. Go to your local library! Look them up on the Internet! Don’t believe me, look into it mor4e for yourself!

The statement: And (I believe )in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:

A short list of bible verses are examined to document that Jesus is the only begotten, or uniquely born son of god. He’s the only human in history, or the future who is uniquely qualified to redeem us from the price of sin.

  • Psalms 2:7 “I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, `You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.
  • John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
18 “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

  • Romans 1:4 who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord,
  • 21 so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
  • Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The purpose of the special qualification of Jesus is to pay for us to go beyond what waits for us at the end of life… the grave. And make a way we can regain a relationship with God, and rejoin him in his spiritual kingdom. He did this through being ressurected from the tomb, and is the authority we should cqall him our lord

That takes us to the next anticipated topic… Sin, Man, and the Relationship with God.,

Quest ep 1.5 Introducing God

Keith is joined by co-host, Nathan Caldwell. Meet the hosts for a quick word on the background of each. Keith is a long time Christian, and a regular guy, with a regular job. Nathan is a missionary pastor, and both want to relate to you where ever yiou are in ,life.

Faith should reach a point where you leave the dogma of your parents and teachers behind, and explore for yoursrelf for what’s fake, and what’s real.

Join the discussion. Everybody is at a different point in their walk of faith, and dealing with religious matters. Drop us a line with some personal advice. Ask a question about what’s next in tyour new faith. Ask that burning, hard to answer question, nd we’ll see how to best respond.

Nathan shares an outline from the bible about knowing what truth is. We can be assured of an absolute truth, and the bible can be held as trustworthy in matters of historical and spiritual truth alike. Simply believing in a fact you make up yourself, or in your own opinions and experiences can be a dangerous, and life threatening thing. Our knowledge is limited to our perspective. God is bigger than his creation, and we can stand above our created world, and begin to understand matters better when we get a glimpse of how God sees things. We get that glimpse from what we learn from the pages of the bible.

Does it take lots of wisdom and learning? No, even a child can understand. Need more knowledge to satisfy? Matters of God are as deep as you want to go. Keep seeking and growing.

Remember, we want to hear from you. Comment, send an email, whether here, or on Nathan’s site, Protectors of the Book.

Quest 01 God Almighty, and Creator

Introducing the podcast that tries to seek for truth about God, the Bible, and life. In this first installment Keith takes a look at the first point in the Apostle’s Creed. This foundational creed dates back to the earliest statements of faith.

To find what the bible says about God being Almighty, and creator, the words of Job are given a glance, since he seems to have the most to say on the mightiness of God. Interesting since he wasn’t in the family of Abraham, and is famouslhy known for the torment he went through. He at least knew that as crazy as life got, God was still in control.

Next time, look for a new segment. The topic will shift toJesus and the scriptures.
